Runtime: 155 minutes
Storyline: An alien and a nature lover team up to save the city from getting destroyed
Ayalaan, grappling with financial constraints exacerbated by the pandemic, teetered on the brink of being dismissed as passé. The initial stretch of the film indeed reflects the challenges of prolonged production, lacking in the vitality that defines contemporary cinema. Tamizh's portrayal as an avid animal and nature enthusiast feels rushed, with scenes transitioning abruptly, and the conventional yet uninspiring "intro song" only serves to further weigh down the narrative.
However, the narrative takes a rejuvenating turn with the introduction of the alien character, whose vibrant personality and sharp wit inject vitality back into the storyline. While Siddharth's voice acting lacks that special spark, the alien's expressive nature and humor breathe new life into the film. The unconventional bond formed between the extraterrestrial and a meek individual evokes memories of Rakesh Roshan's "Koi... Mil Gaya," where unlikely heroes emerge against all odds. Both narratives share the theme of unlikely friendships paving the way for the emergence of unexpected superheroes.
